Behold! For I’m about to tell you Complete DCEU Movie List. DCEU, the acronym of Detective Comics Extended Universe is a joint venture company between DC and Warner Bros in making big screen movies.

I will divide this post into three sections:

Aquaman – 2018

Aquaman is the king of Atlantis with his arch nemesis, Black Manta. Accompanied by Mera, Aquaman fought not only for peace under the sea but also for the land.

Shazam! – 2019

Billy Batson is an orphaned boy who earned the power equivalent to the gods from a wizard named Shazam. A quick thunderstrike will turn Billy Batson into Captain Marvel *.

Wonder Woman – 2019

Women with superpowers from the Amazon who ventured into the world of men and helped protect the world.

Cyborg – 2020

Vic Stone who hates his father for making him a cyborg (in order to save him) with the ability to communicate with machines and equipped with super sophisticated combat equipment.

Green Lantern Corps – 2020

The Green Lantern Corps is an army of OA planets that are sworn to keep this galaxy. In the action this time Hal Jordan will be assisted by other Green Lantern members, who would that be? Would it be the one Batman knocked down?

Batgirl

In the original story, Batgirl is the daughter of Gordon detective who was inspired by Batman to quell crime.

The Batman

Needless to say, you know why? “Because I’m Batman!”

Black Adam

The Rock will become Black Adam, the mortal enemy of Captain Marvel. This is the second DCEU film that puts the villain as the main character, after the Suicide Squad.

Flashpoint

This is the story of Barry Allen getting super speed (this is an oversimplification) after being hit by lightning strikes at the forensic lab where he works.

Gotham City Sirens

This is the story of three of Batman’s female enemies, Catwoman, Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn. I bet Batman and Joker will appear also in this movie.

Justice League Dark

The underrated DC character John Constantine teaming up with Zatanna and Jason Blood. In a war of supernatural realm.

Nightwing

Remember Robin’s suit with “Hahaha” written on it? I believe that it’s not Dick Grayson’s. Why? Because Nightwing was Robin. And if there is Nightwing, sticking to the comic, most probably the dead Robin is Jason Todd (Red Hood).

Some Background Stories I Grew Up With

This is something about Justice League and Teen Titans that most millennial generation wouldn’t know. I’m not in some comic cult that’s forcing moviegoers to read comics before watching a superhero movie.

That’s lame, geek! That’s just another proof that you would be a bully when you have even a slight of power.

Let’s read some histories behind the complete DCEU movie list:

DC Comics itself is a disambiguation since DC is the acronym of Detective Comics. The first DC comic I read was World’s Finest. The comic where Batman and Superman teaming up. So I’ll start with these two first. You can follow this post by clicking the red bell so you get the notification every time I add new info here (and you can unsubscribe anytime too).

Superman

It used to be Superman’s biggest enemy that I know there are two people. Lex Luthor then wore the famous green armor suit, and Brainiac 5 transformed into one with all the technology (cyborg-like) with a skull-shaped ship with octopus-style tentacles.

Kryptonite has various colors with various effects. The most popular, green Kryptonite and other colors which affect not only the abilities but also the behavior of Superman.

Superman has even been divided into two bodies (literally), each with different abilities. One can fly but not bulletproof, others cannot fly but bulletproof.

At that time Superman has even been in a knockout by an ordinary people armed with a hydraulic tool, called Jackhammer.

Before he becomes Superman, Clark Kent aka Superboy had a girlfriend, Lana Lang. They both lived in Smallville.

As Superboy, he regularly flies so fast that he jumps through time (just like Flash did in Flashpoint). He then joins The League of Superheroes in the future, a group of superheroes with a huge amount of member.

Batman

Batman is a unique character since he’s the only one of the big five in Justice League without any superpower.

But, really… his “power” lies in his contingency plans. He’s not a fortune teller, but known as the world’s greatest detective (among other names he’s been calling as). His contingency plan is able to beat Superman and other JLA (Justice League of America) members.

He has HULK-Buster-like armor to deal with JLA. Well, he has everything except parents boo…hoo…

Batman once separated himself from JLA and formed his own team, named The Outsiders with Metamorpho, Katana, Black Lightning, Halo, and Looker. One of the most monumental Batman moment is when he knocked Green Lanterns out. Yes, he knocked both Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner out.

Cyborg, Robin, Kid-Flash, Wondergirl, Starfire, Raven & Changeling (The New Teen Titans)

The first time I saw Cyborg was in The New Teen Titans comic, and later I saw him in Super Friends which actually aired long before Teen Titans. Cyborg (Victor Stone) had a girlfriend who took care of children with a prosthetic limb.

It’s Vic’s dad who built Teen Titans tower to stalk Vic (because Vic hated him). Later, Robin, Starfire, Raven, Kid-Flash, Wondergirl, and Changeling joined the team.

The New Teen Titans fought many battles some of them were against the power of Trigon, Raven’s dad. They even fought Justice League of America once.

Lobo

Lobo is not as old as the superheroes mentioned above, one of his most memorable stories is when he died, went to hell and then even expelled from hell!

Deathstroke

I first read about Deathstroke (aka The Terminator)in The New Teen Titans. Deathstroke is one of my favorite villains. He looked so cool with all the weapons he carried.

His son died on a mission against Titans.

He beat Justice League and Teen Titans members on several occasions… alone! To me, he’s like a bad version of Batman with guns (no more an issue lately). Deathstroke appeared on the post-credit scene of Justice League.

Black Panther

T’Challa, the new ruler of the advanced kingdom of Wakanda, must defend his land from being torn apart by enemies from outside and inside the country wearing Vibranium costume as Black Panther. This is another movie that I won’t have the luxury to watch with my youngest son. Black Panther is his favorite hero since we watched Civil War. But I hope we will, someday, since I don’t think that I’m going to be an adult soon.

How Shazam Beats Superman

Young Billy Batson finds himself gifted with the power of the wizard Shazam to fight against the forces of evil.

With the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles and speed of Mercury, he is the holder of the power of S.H.A.Z.A.M; he is Captain Marvel.

That’s been said, Billy Batson (Shazam’s counter-part) is Captain Marvel. I’ve had this little argument with my friend about the name, Captain Marvel. Since he’s more into Marvel comics, he insisted thatCaptain Marvel is a good looking heroine with magnificent ability.

Quite Impressive though…

Do you like the Captain Marvel pictured above? Don’t worry for she will have her own movie soon.

I can’t recall since when Captain Marvel is known just as SHAZAM, the last time I read the comic (Kingdom Come), he was still known as Captain Marvel. Perhaps I’ll dig deeper about this later (or better yet, I hope the movie will explain this).

In the interview, Zachary Levi (Billy Batson) stated that he wishes Wonder Woman to appear in the movie, “other Justice League characters are great, but Wonder Woman portrays mother figure”. Since Billy Batson is an orphan, I think that makes much sense. Despite the fact that Wonder Woman is the best selling character in DCU.

SHAZAM!

How He Beats Superman

The answer is laid in his name itself and it’s known that one of Superman’s weakness other than Kryptonite is magic. It’s been some occasions when Superman has beaten by even a low-class magician like I once read in World’s Finest (forgot the name though). And Captain Marvel is all about magic. That’s why even Hercules’s own strength is no match for Superman, but Hercules powered kid imbued with magic will easily put the son of Krypton to the ground.

I’m not the type of book reader who will say stupid shit like, “get your fact straight, read the book!” because I think it’s no longer the age when we should stick to only one medium. You know that there’s an audiobook, right? Filmmakers do great in making a comic book adaptation, so we should pay them some respect. Comic book reader will still read the book, so does movie lovers, it’s not like reading a holy book of other’s religion, right?

Back to the movie… Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will not appear in this movie as Black Adam (or any other character).He will be Black Adam, but not in this Shazam (movie),” said Geoff Johns. Black Adam is Shazam’s main foe with the power exactly like Shazam.

Captain Marvel

The superhero film will be set in the ’90s, and the Skrulls, alien shape-shifters, will be the primary antagonists. After encountering the Kree hero Captain Marvel, Carol Danvers was accidentally subjected to otherwordly radiation that transformed her into a superhuman warrior. Calling herself Ms. Marvel, she established herself as one of Marvel’s most powerful and prominent heroes both as a solo heroine and as a member of the Avengers. Recently, she adopted the mantle of Captain Marvel for herself.

Krypton TV Series Is Not What We Expected

I jumped for joy when I saw a Krypton (Syfy) trailer on YouTube. How not if the name Krypton alone means that this movie will tell about Superman? Is it true?

My guess is this is wrong. The film tells about how two generations before Superman survived on the (planet) Krypton.

Like the apocalypse is not the only threat to Krypton here. With the coming “threat of the future”, the Kryptonian warriors must ask for “help” from a generation already living on earth.

Does this mean the whole story of Superman that we know will change? Can be…

But this is not something that worries his fans because DC fans are so used to the multi-verse storyline. In fact, you could say that multi-verse is one of DC’s advantages over its age contender, Marvel.

What I regret the most is that, despite having multi-verse, it turns out Krypton TV Series is not in the same universe as Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl that entered the world of TV series before Krypton. But in the hand of the writer of Man of Steel and The Dark Knight, what could go wrong?

Christian Bale on Romantic Comedy is The Comedy Itself

Have you ever imagine watching a romantic comedy on the big screen in the comfort of your sofa, and then Christian Bale appear as one of the stars? I believe you would act exactly like I would spill my coke all over the couch by surprise.

Yes, this is our today’s topic.

It’s still fresh in our head how he figured Batman perfectly for years and that brought the storm of negative voices when Ben Affleck was announced to be the next Batman replacing him. Not only because Bale was so good bringing Batman to life, but also because many people think that Ben Affleck has failed in another superhero movie, Daredevil. Recently, Ben Affleck stars a movie entitled “Hostile”.

I think Affleck as Daredevil is cool

 though.

Another Bale’s great performance was on The Prestige, a story about two magicians compete for each other to the death. He played twins against Hugh Jackman, a great magician who performs across the street. Another movie who launched his name among the stars was American Psycho, a story about an American… well… psycho. This is the movie where I first know about the essence or a business card. 🙂

And Now The Interview

Time’s up, so a final question: has he considered romantic comedy?

Bale bats the question back with what sounds like a challenge. “Have you ever enjoyed a romantic comedy?” I pause and he presses the point. “Have you ever enjoyed a romantic comedy?”

A few, I say, but my mind blanks.

“Can you name ’em?”

Er, When Harry Met Sally.

“That’s going back quite a ways, isn’t it? You’re hard pressed.” He shakes his head. “I was asked to do a romantic comedy recently and I thought they’d lost their minds. Cats have those insane half hours every evening. I think it must have been that for the production company. I don’t know why anyone would ever offer me a romantic comedy. Well, for me Christian Bale on Romantic Comedy is the Comedy Itself, at least for now.

Film Indonesia Dengan CGI

Barusan gw nonton YouTube, dan nemu video tentang Film Indonesia Dengan CGI yang gw embed di bawah ini. Coba kita liat dulu…

Kenapa gw embed? Karena gak gw embat, sob. Waktu liat cuplikan film Garuda Superhero di menit 1:09, gw langsung nulis komen, “gw gak nonton lantaran gak tahu. Budget bikin film gede tapi gak ada promo ya siapa yang mau nonton?”

Garuda

Ternyata gw bahkan gak perlu buka aplikasi editing lantaran udah ada (dan banyak!) yang sependapat sama gw. Batman tuh niru Garuda banget! Kalau niatnya emang biar mirip sih berhasil deh. Jadi inget waktu itu beli buku komik jagoan buatan Indonesia, favorit gw sih Carok (ada yang tau gak?), tapi bahkan di Carok itu kalau diliat-liat ya ditiru Spiderman juga jongkoknya dan ditiru Wolverine kalau nerkam.

Kelanjutan Film Indonesia dengan CGI

Kabar gembiranya adalah, saking kerennya film ini, sampai dibuat jadi komik.

Btw, gw takjub sama tokoh komik yang maksudnya komedi tapi original banget. Kaya Om Pasikom, Hedot, Ali Oncom yang rambutnya kaya gw dan kawan-kawannya. Kalau yang kekiniannya sih “si tiler” itu (lupa namanya).

Lah, kok jadi bahas komik? Itu sih gara-gara Batman nyontek Garuda…

Kalau kita lihat portfolio pembuatnya… wuih keren-keren. Kelas kakap semua tuh. Tapi entah kenapa, kalau urusannya harus komersil, mendadak ga seperti ekspektasi gw sebelumnya. Ya namanya juga seniman. Kalau udah kena diatur, ngedroplah moodnya. Jangan-jangan, mereka rata-rata bipolar juga?

Kayanya asik kalau sutradara kita bikin parodi kaya Scary Movies gitu nih, soalnya ternyata isinya bikin kita nyambung-nyambungin ke film lain juga.
