Work From Home Using Facebook Pt. 03


Something I don’t understand is, “why an enterprise as big as Facebook doesn’t make a good tutorial for using most of its feature?” Are they selling their help to their customer or what? I was going back and fro just to monetize my Facebook Instant Article. And even though it’s running now, I still have some questions I dare not to ask to keep me away from the maze. In this article, I will try to summarize my efforts to monetize Facebook and share it with you as simply as possible so we can start to work from home using Facebook right now!

Some Blah Blah Blah

If you still use Facebook only to complain or to upload cruelty to then give a curse to the culprit and pray for his victims, now you can use your time for useful things. Believe not if the cruelty you share on Facebook is making money for the person who shared it first?

Making money on Facebook is not a mistake, in fact, I can say that it is something useful. it’s just that people who have low creativity can only share such things. Or they are too smart to use the stupidity of others who will surely share it. Now I want to share how to become one of them, not by sharing garbage, but by doing it the right way. Let’s start discussing how to work from home by monetizing Facebook.

If you have read and done the first and second part of making money using Facebook, then I presume you already have some contents on your Facebook page. If you haven’t, check the link below:

Making WordPress Feed

This is essential since Facebook Instant Article will be fed from here.

Method 1: Self-hosted WordPress

You’re free to use any kind of blog or whatever as long as you can embed the Instant Articles code into the <head> section of your page. We will discuss this later. For now, install and activate the following free plugins:

  1. Native Articles (Facebook Instant Articles)
  2. Monster Insights
  3. Insert Headers and Footers

Method 2: WordPress.com

Using WordPress.com is also convenient but with the lack of shiny objects.

These are the quick steps:

  1. Make a free account at WordPress.com
  2. Install JetPack
  3. Go to Setting > Sharing
  4. Connect your Facebook Page to WordPress
  5. Open my WordPress and follow me 🙂 <~this part is essential, it won’t work without this. 😀

But, if you like the challenge and even want some extra cash, let’s go to your Facebook Page.

Setting Up Instant Articles to WordPress

  • Click on Publishing Tools at the top of your Facebook Page

  • Look for Instant Articles section on the left and then click on Configuration
  • Go to Tools > Connect Your Site
  • Copy the code (what we discussed earlier), it should looks like this: <meta property=“fb:pages” content=“xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx” />
  • Don’t close your Facebook
  • Open your WordPress, hover your cursor over Settings and choose Insert Headers and Footers
  • Paste the code you copied to the Head area, and then click Save
  • Back to Facebook copy the number written at WordPress plugin users use xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx as the Page ID
  • Go to WordPress again, look for Native Articles and choose Facebook Instant Articles
  • Paste the number (xxx) to the General > Authorization ID
  • Back to Facebook again, fill in the URL area with your WordPress website address
  • Click Claim URL, if you did everything right, your website will be added to Instant Articles claimed URL

Making A Facebook App

  • Got to https://developers.facebook.com/apps/
  • Click the green Add A New App (I said green)
  • Fill the box with your credentials and make verification when asked (the Captcha thing)
  • You will then be directed to your new App Dashboard (Finally a non-blue Facebook)
  • Look for Audience Networks and click Setup
  • Create a new business manager account (sounds cool, right?)
  • Enter your business name, Continue
  • Choose your name (first and last name) and your business email

I already have a business manager, and I forgot if there’s anymore step between creating a business manager and this following part…

It’s time to add your app or website to a Property in Audience Network.
You can add more later for other products you want to monetize.
  • Choose “use existing property”
  • Note: Website monetization is only available for approved businesses.
  • Click Go To Monetization Manager
  • Choose website
  • Wait until Facebook contacted you

Production RSS Feed

WordPress will feed Instant Articles, so we have to go to the Production RSS Feed area under the Claim URL button. Fill it with something like https://your-WordPress.com-orsomething/feed/facebook-instant-articles/ 

You should change your-WordPress.com-orsomething with your website address. Facebook will periodically check your feed and then convert it to Instant Articles.

Monster Insights

We will be using Monster Insights to connect Google Analytics to our WordPress website and Instant Articles.

Start writing on your WordPress website, free or self-hosted and make sure you arrange the payment on Facebook. I’m afraid I can’t help you this time unless you trust me with your credit card number hahaha!

“Header and Footer” allows us to insert the scripts we got from Amazon, Google, Bing, Yandex, and Pinterest to verify our website. This will help the search engine to verify that the website is truly yours. Without verification, it’s likely that most of the other related functions won’t work.

One thing that distinguishes this plugin from the other header and footer plugin is its feature that allows us to also insert the scripts needed for our AMP sites, such as Google AMP Auto Ads.

This will make the task to insert Amazon product you sell into your post easier. You have to configure it with the setting and key given by Amazon. You will have to make Amazon affiliate account in order to get these specific instructions and also verify your website ownership. After the installation and verification, you can add any Amazon products into your post by searching the product right in the post section.

This is a good plugin if you are as impatient as me. Propeller Ads offers us a lower minimum amount of revenue we need to achieve before cashing our earnings. Sounds good?

Once we’re done converting our Facebook Profile to Facebook Page. We can start filling it with anything. Such as news, jokes, photos just like you do with your personal Facebook profile. But, keep this in mind… our post here should be viewers oriented. We can’t post deliberately we do on our personal page.Unless you’re one of the Kardashians or Trump.

Verify Your Facebook Page

You may want to verify your Facebook Page even you don’t need to. It will raise the trust of your future followers on your page. This is how you do it:

To verify your Page:
  1. Click Settings at the top of your Page
  2. In General, click Page Verification
  3. Click Verify this Page, then click Get Started
  4. Enter a publicly listed phone number for your business, your country, and language
  5. Click Call Me Now to allow Facebook to call you with a verification code
  6. Enter the 4-digit verification code and click Continue

And Now… The Nasty Part

This is where things got confusing, we might even have to open more than one tab to make it works. But, this is the essential part, we won’t be able to monetize our Facebook Page without successfully doing this part.

  1. Go to https://instantarticles.fb.com/
  2. Click Sign Up
  3. Choose your Facebook Page
  4. Skip to the Instant Article section below.

If you don’t have a Facebook Page, you can start here.

  1. Do step 1 to 4 above
  2. Pick your page type.
  3. Take your time and choose what suits your page.

  5. Invite your friends while being selective. Kicking out hundreds of people is a hard thing to do and there is no bulk delete option.

Instant Article

Facebook has a strict rule for Instant Articles as stated here.

  1. Click the checkbox beside “By proceeding, you agree to the Instant Articles Terms.”
  2. Click Access Instant Articles Tools
  3. Continue here

Done! Start filling up your page with articles. Facebook needs at least 10 articles to get reviewed.

After Facebook is done reviewing the articles on your Facebook Page, you can click the monetize menu from the left and follow the instructions given. It’s a step by step tutorial, so I believe you can manage your way from here.

Hi guys, now it’s time for me to share how to cheat AdSense.

I’m lucky enough to experience living in the era when being a geek is considered cool. People have been using different kinds of swag from time to time. From barbaric approach to materialistic approach. But now (I think)… we can impress people simply by a presentation. The presentation comes first, accomplishment and fix come later. Just like how Google does it.

Now, Back To The Topic

Let’s see the video below. If you’re not fond of watching, you can skip the video because I’m going to write everything after the video.

Step by Step Instruction

This is a step by step instruction. So make sure you do it step by step and not randomly (unless stated).

In Amazon (or any other affiliate program)

  1. Make a free affiliate account (I’m using Amazon, but you can use this method with any accounts).
  2. Go to the affiliate tab (up-left on Amazon).
  3. Look for any promotion available for your affiliation.

In AdSense

You must have an approved AdSense account!

  1. Make an ad-unit in the size of the Amazon’s ad code.
  2. Open the ad-unit and then scroll down to where it stated something like, “if no ad available*”
  3. Paste the Amazon ad-code there and replace the part before // with https: in your posted code.
  4. Delete the part after your Amazon name (mine is digressingme-20)
  5. Save the setting and then click “get code” from the ad-unit you just created.

In Your Website

  1. This last part is simple. Just paste the code into the ad placement or anywhere you want it to appear. I recommend to stay away from WordPress appearance editor and stick with the widget placement provided by your theme.

How Does It Work?

The ad-code to you put in your placement/widget supposed to show Google AdSense advertisement only. Sometimes, your web traffic is going down and Google “refuses” to put an advertisement on your website. Hence, the blank yellow area. You can change the color of the blank area, but… blank is still blank.

That’s why we fill the blank with another advertisement you made on Amazon.

  1. If your web has a good traffic, then you might need this method to keep your layout looks good (no blank area, odd coloring etc). Imagine your website like a 24hrs shop now!
  2. If you’re just starting your web, then using this method will allow your web looks like it’s already populated with Google AdSense. So it will give you a richer content.
