Best Mac Games – Feb 2018 Edition

Best Free Mac Games

In the past, Mac game is an extraordinarily rare thing. Somehow this famous great for the graphics business machine is not even flooded by games with cool graphics. But that’s not what we’ll discuss now. Because it is history. Now there are many Windows games that have a twin on Mac and vice versa. Still, the same game can be played better on Windows than its Mac version. This often confuses me, which games to install. That’s why I made a list of Best Mac Games.

Machinarium

Lets you play in the story of (spoiler alert) the struggle of a wasted robot is in a junkyard to reunite with its beloved. Being in a thick, steampunk feel, this enigmatic game can take days to solve. Or perhaps hours if you have such a magnificent IQ.

Machinarium is not a new game, I played it about seven years ago. But still, aforementioned has always been my recommendation when presenting the best Mac games.

Samorost

Coming from the same kitchen with the Machinarium. Samorost presents a puzzle that is equally crazy. Telling about a gnome adventure that is stranded in outer space armed only with its enchanting trumpets to reveal its origin.

Shadow Fight 2

Game fighting genre is unique by presenting the fight of the … well, shadows. The essence of this game is to be the winner who is entitled to close the Gate of Shadow by equipping themselves with various weaponry and armor. Shadow Fight 2 comes from the same production house as Vector, if you still remember the parkour jumping game.

Eternity Warriors

This series of game is a slash and hack game, similar to Diablo. This game can be played in co-op mode with your friends. Eternity Warriors aims to destroy the ruling evil in his land with a variety of weapons, armor and high-level combat ability.

Some levels are very challenging, but it will easily be conquered with good character management. I once played it just to quickly finish it, and it made me stuck at a high level because of the lack experience my character had.

If you like Mobile Legends, you will like Eternity Warriors. Or you can play Mobile Legends on your Mac.

Contract Killer 2

3rd person shooting game is quite unique, because not only rely on the accuracy of shooting, but also with the use of the right timing. The goal is to eliminate the opponent, and often by sneaking and luring the opponent into the bait.

Dark Mystery

Go back to the puzzle game. This event tells about Furry and his mate, Queen who was stranded in Dark World. To pass every level, players must be able to solve complicated but entertaining puzzles.

Defense Zone 3 Ultra HD

This is a strategy game similar to Tower Defense. The goal is the same, ie to prevent enemies coming from point A and get out at point B. Block all enemies by destroying them using turrets arranged before the attack and between each wave of attack.

Red Crucible: Reloaded

This 1st person shooting game cannot be won by “the assault and the last stands” but there are missions that must be solved by fighting on the front line, team deathmatch and surviving.

If my best Mac games pick is not enough, and your desired game is not available in the Mac version, you can install Windows with a dual-boot system or use a Windows emulator. But I really do not recommend both, because your Mac resources easily run out to run a heavy emulator. As for dual-boot … is it feasible to eat that much space on your partition just for gaming?

That’s why I recommend using CrossOver. With CrossOver, you can play cool Windows games with your Mac stability.

CrossOver

Mac users now have access to run Windows games on our Mac. Yes, instead of using heavy emulators and giving no more impure opinions. Now we have Wine, the funny thing is it stands for Wine Is Not Emulator.

The Wine has a variant or package called CrossOver intended for users who prefer to do everything using front-end display. The CrossOver version for Mac comes with a free trial for 14 days. After 14 days since CrossOver was first used, CrossOver will stop working, but already installed apps will still exist. I recommend using CrossOver because it feels more comfortable to use (based on my experience while using it on Linux). With CrossOver, we can install games in a few clicks. Unlike its big brother that requires you to install other application to work properly.

There are several reasons to use Windows game rather than its Mac version, the number one factor for me is the price. Perhaps the cost at the time of development was the reason why the same app could have a more expensive price on a Mac version.

So, if you’re going after something easy and get right into the game for a small price, pick CrossOver. Otherwise, you can always use Wine.

Running Android Apps on Linux and Chromebook For A No Brainer!

Running Android Apps on Linux For A No Brainer!

I really mean it. No brainer here means that all of the processes are doable using some clicks or taps on your touchpad. No command line, no long tutorial with trials and errors. How comfortable is that? I’m now running Android apps on Linux and Chromebook myself.

I said no long tutorials, not no long story… so this is my story… 😀

Note: I’m running Deepin on MacBook Pro Mid 2010 and Chromebook Acer c720p.

I was installing Diablo 2 using Crossover, everything was fine (except the jumpscare when the installation finished) until it asked me for a CD key. Aw, come on… this is 2018, who still keep their old game CD keys. I know I don’t. And I also forgot where I got the CD key before, but I do remember that I keep it in my Evernote when I installed Diablo 2 on my Chromebook last night.

Get Deepin here.

Not in a hurry, I decided to install Evernote as well on my Mac. Then I noticed a notification saying, “please update Google Play”.

Wait, Google Play? Is it even available here?

Still wondering, I’m trying my luck with sudo and tab in the Terminal. And yes… there they are. Some Android stuff. Then I did what I should’ve done first, checking the store. In Deepin, it’s called Deepin Store.

If you’re not running Deepin, try to go to its web store.

Also, read: List of Android Games running on Deepin.

You will find some Android Apps, ready to install. Too bad, they’re just a few. But hey, I can play more games on my Mac and Chromebook running Deepin.

What do you think about running Android Apps on Linux/Chromebook or even MacBook Pro? Is it kinda beat the purpose?
